  • Communication Is A Basic Human Right!

    Funded Sep 1, 2024

Thank you so much for funding our classrooms with these very fun activities. With all of your help, we were able to fully fund our project and get all of these great activities. We will be so thrilled to play with all of these supplies! We will upload photos of it soon.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

  • Literacy and AAC

    Funded Apr 22, 2021

Because of your generous donation, we were able to purchase an AAC and Literacy curriculum - Readtopia. It is a well-studied and well-managed literacy program led by Dr. Erickson and Caroline Musselwhite, PIONEERS of this field!

Thank you, Thank you for your generosity! We have been able to read age-appropriate materials and articles. Read, write, and share information that most do not even consider providing for my non-speaking, minimally verbal students. It has been so instrumental to the classroom teachers in supporting their lesson plans and targeted goals.

We appreciate you all so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

  • Special Education STEM Kits

    Funded Feb 10, 2021

Thank you so much for donating towards our science kits. We are having so much fun conducting weekly science experiments. We recently completed the slime experiment using saline solution, glue, food coloring, baking soda, and bowls. They could not stop SMILING, GIGGLING, and SQUEALING the whole time! We discussed adjectives and described what the slime smelled and felt like -- sticky, gross, good, then followed with "Can we wash our hands now?"

It was incredible to watch them stay so focused and engaged for 40-45minutes through distance learning. Typically, 20-minutes was the maximum attention using screen sharing options.

It has been such a long year with limited resources and this really helped uplift all of our moods- teachers included.

Next week we will be completing writing assignments based on our observations and procedures on slime. The following week will be another science experiment with "Shiny pennies."”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

This year has been one of the hardest years with distance learning. Supplies once easily found in the classroom are no longer an option. Therefore, we are hoping to send home science experiment kits to liven up the sessions and increase engagement. The students will then be able to explain the scientific process using their augmentative alternative communication devices (AAC) based on the science experiments. We want our special education students to understand the scientific process, write about the steps and outcome, utilize their AAC device as an alternate pencil, and present it to staff, family, and friends. All supplies will be disseminated to each student as a "science kit" and used to develop science experiments together during online sessions. This project is requesting the various supplies needed for our kits. Some of the science experiments the students will be working on include: making slime, creating a Lava lamp, sensory water balloons filled with water beads, creating rain clouds with shaving cream and using a dropper of food coloring, and making a snow diorama.
