These picture books will be used for both read-alouds and mentor texts for guidance in teaching about the Civil Rights Movement, Black History, and human rights. Through literature, children will be exposed to diversity and human kindness through the lens of personal connection to inspire activism! Students will be exploring actions in history and reflecting on how things that happened before they were born have an impact on the world around them. Students will also be studying an African American contributor (scientist, author, activist, artist, or musician) that led change in our country.
