  • Help Students Hear Their Music Compositions

    Funded May 11, 2023

    Thank you for your generous support of our project! Thanks to your donation, students can hear their music compositions more clearly and can focus more on their creations during music class. For this project, students use the Garage Band app on classroom iPads to learn how to create their own music using loops and digital instruments in the app. They can also use their voices or live instruments to record their own songs to share with the class. If we did not have these headphones, the classroom would be very loud with 24+ students creating and playing music at the same time out loud. However, with the headphones, students can hear their music more clearly and can focus better on their music creations.”

  • Kid Composers Create Great Music!

    My students are so excited to have the opportunity to use the iPads and Bose bluetooth speakers for their music compositions in my classroom. Thank you for your generosity supporting this project that encourages student musicians to use their creativity and imagination to compose their own music and share it with others.

    As we continue working toward proficient compositions, my students have goals of entering competitions for digital composing. This technology has been great for students of all abilities including those students who have physical limitations that make playing instruments difficult. By having access to these iPads, they can still create music and proudly share it with their friends!

  • Music Passion Projects Come to Life

    Funded Nov 18, 2021

    Thank you so much for donating to "Music Passion Projects Come to Life". Thanks to your generous support, our students can use their new iPads to compose music and create customized videos that can be shared in our community. The iPads are being used by individual students and collaboratively as a class. We are using the Apple app called "Garage Band" to teach students about composing. One student has already composed a theme song for our school's podcast!

    Our students are so excited to have this amazing technology to help them use their creativity in new ways. Some students are beginning to work on a local tourism video to share about our community. They are using the iMovie app on the iPads for their video creation. Then music will be composed using the Garage Band app to accompany the tourism video.

    The iPads have also been great for our special needs students who can learn more about rhythms and melodies by playing music games and using music apps. This new technology is something we use daily and it is truly enhancing how our students learn and make connections with the world. Thank you again for supporting our project. We are forever grateful for your support.”

They have also provided a way for students to learn about the elements of music (harmony, melody, rhythm, etc.) through fun and engaging interactive apps and games! In addition, I have been using the iPads for students in class who have special needs and benefit from various tactile or visual aids in music class.

    My students are very excited about having iPads in music class now because it gives us another option when we do stations and it gives them the opportunity to compose and record their own music!

Students will use the iPads to compose their own music and create passion project videos that feature their music compositions. During Non-Traditional Instruction, iPads will be connected to my device so the screen can be shared and students can collaborate on music composition and creation using the GarageBand App. The iPad will also be helpful when I need to record virtual lessons or special activities for my students that require advanced editing options. When we are back in the classroom together for in person instruction, iPads will be connected to the classroom screen for more collaborative composing and will be used individually by students for Project-Based Learning (PBL) activities focused on music and video creation using GarageBand and the iMovie app. These will be passion projects centered on using student compositions and videos for reaching out to the school community, with a specific focus on new incoming students and English as a second language students and their families.
