  • Musical Instruments for Music Making

    Funded Apr 6, 2025

Thank you so much for all of the instruments you have donated to my classroom! Since receiving these instruments, my students have been using these instruments to play a wide variety of music, from traditional Hawaiian music and folk to pop, jazz, and even rock, often serving as a rhythm or accompaniment instrument.

Every time I get the instruments out that you donated, my students get very excited! Before your donation, I did not have enough instruments to give to everyone. My students are also loving the instrument center I have added. Each center, I include a playing or composition center that features a certain instrument. Your donation will continue to bring smiles and excitement for years to come! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Broderick

  • Project Kindness

    Funded Mar 17, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom! This project is very important as we are really focusing on spreading kindness throughout the school! The Kindness Club will be very excited to see all the items they are going to use to help spread kindness around the school building. Everyone can always use a little kindness to make their not-so-good day brighter. Research shows that when we cooperate and show kindness to our fellow humans, we become healthier, happier and more successful. This project is going to allow us to recognise and praise students when we notice them being kind and supportive to one another. We truly appreciate your support in this project! Thank you again!”

  • Music Activities

    Funded Jan 10, 2025

Thank you so much for donating the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to help me purchase music activities for my classes. With this gift card, I have been able to purchase music center activities, bellwork, and exit tickets. So far, I have purchased rhythm games for my centers that go with my rhythm unit. In these centers, students played a board game to review rhythms. I also purchased a whole class rhythm game where I can assess if a student can play a rhythm correctly. My students loved that it made a picture when they got it correct.

This year, I am focused on taking time to review material we have learned previously and build upon it. With my gift card, I was able to purchase music bellwork and exit tickets that will let me cover multiple music topics throughout the year. I have already seen a difference in class's retaining material and my students like the quick review. It is also a great assessment tool for how well my students' are understanding a concept and whether we need to review a music concept more.

Once, we get into my instrument and composer's unit, I am planning on using the gift card to find material and activities that go with my music books such as "All that Jazz", "88 Instruments" and "Wild Symphony." My students are looking forward to using these activities for years to come.”

  • Literature in Music

    Funded Jan 17, 2025

Thank you so much for donating these music books to our music library! We use these books for many different things. So far, we have used them in music centers and students got to pick one of the books to read from the music library. My students loved reading the new books and especially enjoyed looking at the illustrations to songs we have done in class, such as "My Aunt Came Back" and "It's a Wonderful World." I loved hearing the students point to each word as they remembered the lyrics to the song.

We are very excited to have some fresh literature in our library and more books to cover a wide range of music topics for all the music units! Thanks to your support we will have a year full of music and books!”

  • Classroom Essentials

    Funded Jan 22, 2025

Thank you for your continued support to my classroom! A healthy classroom makes for a successful classroom. This time of year is when we share all kinds of germs and with your help we will be able to cut down on that sharing. We teach the students that sharing is a positive thing to do, but not with illnesses. The weather is changing here in Ohio, and many of my students haven't changed their attire yet which is causing them to get sick. Thank you so much for helping keep us safe and healthy with these new supplies. We truly appreciate your generosity.”

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom! These items are going to be so beneficial for my students to take them on many new adventures. I requested these new books to update my classroom library in my room. Reading is so important and I try to instill the love of reading and music in all of my students. My students will be so excited to get these new books and look through them. I can't wait for them to go on all these new adventures. Thank you so much for bringing that excitement and joy of reading to my students!”

Every year, I like to teach my students about different cultures through music. Most of my students have never been out of our state, let alone a different country. I think it is important they experience other cultures and learn that we might have some differences, but have a lot of similarities as well. My students enjoy learning about different cultures through music and often have many questions. They especially enjoy my units on African and Latin American music. My students love playing instruments and always want a hands-on experience with the world instruments we are learning. The few world instruments I have are used every year in my music classes. I let them explore the instruments by looking at them, playing them, and teaching them the correct way to play. I would use these world instruments in my project to take my world instrument lessons to another level. My students would be able to experience these instruments with hands-on activities instead of just looking at pictures and hearing descriptions. With the djembe drums, I can teach students the three tones on the drum and we can perform different drum circle rhythm patterns. With the talking drum, they can squeeze the strings and experiment how the strings affect the pitch of the drum. Students will also get to use these instruments to play rhythm patterns while we listen to different songs from different cultures.
