Design, Create, Engage... with FCS and STEM
Funded Jul 1, 2023Thank you SO much DonorsChoose for bringing the Cameo and vinyl supplies for the students to have a creative outlet. I can't wait to see what students produce this year with their creativity! My students cannot thank you enough for the vinyl cutting machine and addition supplies for our school year. With these supplies, students can easily work on creating a design during free time or study hall. The students are so excited to be able to make shirts and keychains that they design!
When we showed students these new tools we received a round of applause. Students immediately started thinking about designs they wanted to incorporate into projects.. Students worked in groups to learn how to use the program and other students used their Ipads to watch tutorials. All the students benefited from the hands-on learning. Not only were students able to learn a new skill, they learned the amount of work it takes to create a shirt and market them!”

Sew Much Fun
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you so much for funding this project. These sewing supplies have been a game changer in my classroom! We are able to cut our sewing sample squares out much faster while the students are practicing measuring skills. The students were so excited to learn how to cut fabric multiple ways and have an extra spot for ironing.
These kinds of projects are so important for students in our district. Simple and basic needs like new clothes are often unaffordable. With these items our students are learning how to repair clothing. Students will stop down in my classroom throughout the day to borrow supplies to fix a whole in their shirts or pants.
Our classroom will always have project requests like these. We are currently requesting project items to bring technology into the classroom. We would love your support in the future for some of our projects, or even just a simple share on social media to get the word out for our class.Thank you for supporting us!”

Funded Oct 10, 2021I thank you for launching my project, "Cooking in Style: Rainbow Aprons." Thank you for caring about my students and their learning experiences. We received aprons in multiple colors and a rack to store them. We have been working hard on our cooking skills.
My students learned how to make a variety of different foods, such as pancakes, pizza, cinnamon rolls, and biscuits. The students love when they are able to cook, and now they don't have to worry about getting their clothes dirty. It is such a nice break in their day to be able to do hands on learning experiences
This project would not have been possible without your kindess and generosity. The amount of aprons needed are very expensive, and I could not have afforded it on my own. Thank you for supporting my students!”

Funded Aug 3, 2021Thank you so much for all of your support! I am so happy that you funded this project which will allow me to teach my students additional skills that will stay with them for life. These resources allow me to stretch my limited budget a little further.
My students were speechless that strangers cared enough to make sure they have what they need to succeed in the classroom. I think a few of them are still in disbelief. Tactile learning is such a great way to engage my students. We were able to learn how we can repair our clothing by sewing on buttons and using a few different stitches. After practicing each stitch, we were able to combine them into a larger project, emoji pumpkins! Thank you so much!”

Back to School Classroom Supplies
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you so much for all of your support! I am so happy that your funded this project which will allow me to give my students necessary school supplies. I am able to engage the students with a daily check in. Some days I ask how their mental wellness is, and other days I ask what would be their superpower if they could choose. Students are able to grab a pencil whenever they need it with no questions asked.
My students were speechless that strangers cared enough to make sure they have what they need to succeed in the classroom. I think a few of them are still in disbelief. I know many are relieved to not worry about not providing pencils and paper for class. There are plenty of dry eraser markers for each student to be able to use, and it brightens their day that they can choose to use their favorite color!
We are finally in the kitchens cooking, or at least learning to cook, some delicious foods. Not only do my students learn how to cook safely, they learn how to properly clean dishes and laundry. They apply math skills to real world problems in the kitchen. When we can't cook, we can work on other food related skills. We will be making food safety posters to hang in the hallway. Knowledge is power! With your donations, we are able to share our knowledge with others. Thank you so much!”

Funded Apr 2, 2021My students and I couldn't be more appreciative of your generous donations. In a time of uncertainity, and a nontraditional learning enviroment, your thoughtfulness couldn't have came at a better time. My students were able to use the supplies and gain vaulable hands on learning. We used the plates and cups so they could enjoy their food in school. We also used the plates to share their cookies with teachers throughout the school. They used the foam board to take a break from online learning, whether they were in person or virutal. I sent home materials to those students who remained 100 percent virtual so they were able to participate with the in person students. The foam boards turned into a food truck. My students designed a truck and menu while learning about budgets, grocery shopping, and cost comparison.
When my students first saw the materials in my room, they were confused and in disbelief. It's not often they see strangers doing something nice for them. After I explained my plans for the materials, they were excited. They spent slightly over a year at home, many of them, not leaving their houses. Their learning was all online. Not only was it a challenge for me to teach cooking skills virtually, it was a challenge for them to learn cooking skills virtually. Your donations could not have come at a better time!
This school year is now over, but with input from my students, I am planning next year's curriculum. My students want to learn other important life skills along side cooking. Next year, I am planning to teach my students laundry care along with some hand sewing skills so they can repair their clothing. As far as the cooking goes, we are planning on learning how to make cookies, bread, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, pizza, and stovetop popcorn.”
