Mental Health Managed
Funded Nov 7, 2024Thank you so much for your donation to my mental health project for my school. I was able to provide every teacher with a calming kit for their classrooms for students to use as needed in class. Teachers were very appreciative and even wanted to use the items themselves. Students have been able to use the items purchased (stress balls, fidgets, etc) if they become overwhelmed in class; this helps them regulate so they can return to the lesson and focus.
I was able to purchase items I've had in my room for years that I know students favor and would recognize; I think this really piqued their interest too once they saw those items in their regular classrooms.
Again, thank you so much for your donation!”

Calm Down and Chill
Funded Apr 30, 2021Thank you so much for your kind donation to our school. It has been fun setting up our calming room to look more professional for our students/teachers to actually use. Today we are showing our upcoming 8th graders the room and the process to request time to use it next year if they are needing a mental break. Several of our students have loved using the room as this time of year is especially stressful with grades becoming due. I have more ideas on ways to make the room even "calmer" by adding live plants, more comfy seating, and more craft stations. This has really helped us get closer to our end goal, and it is much appreciated!!”

Escaping Emotional Madness
Funded Feb 9, 2021My students and myself are very appreciative of this project and its donations. We've only had our materials a week or so, but we have put them to good use already. We were able to buy lots of sensory items to help students calm down and relax when stressed such as: pastels, sketch books, a puzzle, coloring books, etc. Every student prefers something different and I'm glad we are able to meet all of their unique needs.
It has been heartening to see teenagers going back to their childlike selves. Play is crucial to development and a lot of times people forget that teenagers still need that play and sense of wonder. Even our most surliest of students has had a smile on his face using these items, which says a lot. A lot of them want to take some of these items home and create a similar space there. I've also been able to use some of these items in dealing with an upset student. We were able to go to the room to calm down and take a break; even just a change of scenery can do wonders! We also had some testing to do this week, and with the new oil diffuser on, students were more focused and ready to work. I can't wait to market this to more students and make sure they all know they have a place to calm down and be themselves.”
