My general science classroom lacks curricular materials that support direct science instruction. After interacting with a similar model once in the past (on loan) I was blown away by how well my students were able identify patterns and construct explanations about moon phases and eclipses as observed from Earth. I would love for my current and future students to have a similar experience. Our Solar System is vast and intangible; these manipulative models will provide a concrete representation of the Earth-Moon system, supporting our 6th grade science core. Students remain engaged when they are actively participating in learning. In science, this means hands-on investigation and thinking like scientists. After over a year of remote learning due to COVID-19, I am anxious to provide quality, interactive learning experiences in my science classroom. Help support my instruction by purchasing Earth-Moon models that students can manipulate themselves. I have requested fifteen models units. This number will reduce the ratio of materials to students, therefore maximizing student engagement and learning.
