A Designated Place for Learning
Funded Jan 1, 2025Thank you for your most generous donation. My students, supporting staff and I could not be any happier with our new rug. My kindergarten students were so excited to see the bright colors and design. Some students said, "Wow, this is so soft"..."Mrs. Turner, this is so beautiful!" I was truly amazed at their reaction.
The rug helps me create routines. I have assigned seating on the rug. The squares and colors help the students remember where they sit during lessons. During "free time" my students have used the rug for our hopping game. My paraprofessionals use the rug as a tool to recite the alphabet or numbers as the children jump from square to square. Students use the rug to take a nap when needed. The rug also provides an extra space/place for small group instruction or one to one tutoring for students.
I am looking forward to using this rug next year. It is a really good quality rug. Thank you so much for helping my class and future classes enjoy a soft, colorful classroom rug.”

Great Book Choices Motivate Great Readers!
Funded Oct 30, 2023Opening up the boxes of books was like being a kid on Christmas morning for me and all of my students! They were so excited to see the Mo Willems collection of Piggie and Elephant books, Fly Guy series, Flat Stanley books and Junie B Jones books. . Each book is an adventure where the characters explore different feelings and how to handle problems that arise between friends. Part of our school curriculum is social emotional learning. The characters in the books you've supplied provide good examples of how to handle disappointments, how to show kindness and love. These are all topics we discuss at length in my classroom. Because I have book series, students can follow all of the adventures characters experience. We have been working on character traits. Flat Stanley books and Junie B Jones books are great mentor texts to highlight character traits. The addition to my classroom library has truly been a blessing. Students are excited about the new choices. I have students asking if they can visit our classroom library as a choice for break time or when they've finished their work. The best part is that most of the books are easily decodable. Even my struggling readers are inspired to read. It's exciting to be able to offer variety of books for all to share and delight in.”

Funded Oct 2, 2021My class and I can not thank you enough for your incredible generosity. We were so excited to receive the stand up mobile desks, the chair bands and the magnetic behavior chart. I think we were all surprised at how useful these tools would be. One of the greatest benefits to having a stand up desk is the reduction of behavior issues. Before the desks were in my classroom, students did not complete assigned work. The only way to relieve the pent up energy was to act out or go for supervised walks (out of the classroom). Now, my students take turns using the desks as they need them. I am amazed as to how quickly they understood the benefits of using these desks. I love how they recognize when they are loosing control and how they can make a decision to get it back and get praise for doing so. They also know that positive behavior is rewarded by moving their name on our behavior chart. The chair bands have also been a blessing. Some kids don't need to stand up but need other ways to get the energy out. The chair bands provide the movement and resistance my students need without creating a disruption to learning. Lastly, the behavior chart is a visual reminder of how their day is going. I have used other systems but would eventually have to tear it down as they were not durable. Students like moving the magnetic name plates (when it is for praise). The management of my classroom has been greatly impacted by these tools. My principal walked into my classroom and was very happy to see how engaged my kids were, especially those using the desks.”
