This Math Exploration Station project will allow each student in my class to interact, explore, and participate in direct instruction of math skills that support basic number sense development AND make it FUN! Each student will rotate through math stations using: 1. Unifix Cubes to sort, build, and make patterns 2. Pattern blocks to sort, create, and match to Activity Cards 3. Fruit and Sea Animal Counters to explore, sort, and make patterns 4. Button Sorting Center to sort and classify 5. Magnetic Numbers & Counters to connect numbers with their quantities (on their individual marker board) 6.Magnetic Marker Boards for each student to write the numbers and connect them to quantities through exploration and direct instruction. I have given many of my math manipulative to the student to take home for distance education so that they have a set of pattern block, unifix cubes, counters, and a marker board at home. I want to be able to recreate these centers at school when we return because this type of activity is extremely valuable for my students. Each student is able to use the materials at their level. For example, some students might be exploring and matching, while others are creating simple addition equations with counters and the marker board (2+2). Thank you for helping me create meaningful math stations for my students.
