African Drumming in an Elementary Music Class
Funded Mar 30, 2022Thank you so much for purchasing three tubanos for my classroom! These were a wonderful addition to our classroom instruments! Students were so excited as I unboxed the drums and put them on display! The large and colorful drums definitely brightened up the music room!
Shortly after receiving the drums, we began a unit on Africa. Students learned about the continent, its countries, habitats, animals, and instruments! The tubanos purchased by you allowed my students multiple hands-on opportunities! Students learned the three sounds/pitches made on the head of the drum and how to combine the three tones to create a rhythm.
In the future I would like to add to this unit by expanding on the student created rhythms and learning specific rhythms that were used for communication between African villages. I will also incorporate African dancing as I continue to build on this unit.
Thank you again for your generous donation! It is so appreciated!”

Rhythm Instruments for a COVID Safe Classroom
Funded Jan 29, 2021Thank you for funding "Rhythm Instruments for a COVID Safe Classroom!" My goal was to replace instruments made of wood with plastic. This has helped immensely with the cleaning and disinfecting that must take place between classes. The cleaning solution does not harm our new plastic instruments and dries so quickly! I no longer hesitate to add rhythm instruments in my lesson plans.
Our beautiful new instruments definitely brighten up the music room and add excitement every time they are placed in each student's hands! The instruments are used to keep a steady beat, create and add rhythmic accompaniment to songs, and to help dramatize stories and nursery rhymes. My students and I love the new instruments and are so thankful for your generosity!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nunley
