Spring Cleaning
Funded Jun 28, 2022Thank you from the bottom of my heart. While I created this project last spring, the impact of these items had an even greater impact than I could have imagined.
The extra sets of headphones are a blessing as things seem to have a habit of breaking fairly easily. My second graders absolutely love dancing with the ribbons, and with 750 students I see every week, one can never have too many cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer.
Unfortunately this fall, our school and community were impacted by hurricane Ian. We missed 3 full weeks of school because of the flooding and damage to the area and our school. Once back in school, I ended up traveling from room to room for 2 weeks while classrooms were being fixed and my classroom hosted pre-k. Some of the items, such as the ribbons, were of great value as they could easily be transported from room to room.
Thank you again for your generosity and support.”

Music from Around the World
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am still in the middle of my unit "Music from Around the World." My younger students are thoroughly enjoying learning about all the different countries, cultures and music.
Each week, we learn about a new country. I have created power points to show them pictures of the country, their architecture, flag etc. Each week we focus on learning one folk dance from the country and about a native instrument or style of playing/singing. The students enjoy it even more when I have one of the instruments to show them in person.
I had the pleasure of having our principal join our lesson on Japan for my observation. He left the kindest note appreciating that the students are learning about the culture and country, not just the musical aspects. He even joined us during our taiko drumming session at the end of the lesson.
This has been one of the most popular units I have ever done. Even my older kids are asking to do the unit as well. So, once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Funded Apr 1, 2021Thank you for your generosity. My students adore the days they get "centers time." I enjoy watching and listening to them explore music on their own.
Right now my centers include keyboards, piano floor mats, ukuleles, reading and music games. The addition of the drum pads as a rotation in centers has been a huge hit with my students. They love being able to play the drums along with music or even just playing around with the different drum sounds. The drum pads are now the most popular station.”

Funded Jun 10, 2021Thank you for your support for this project. Even in just the first couple weeks of school I have seen the impact in my classroom.
My students love the new headphones. The old ones were big and heavy which hurt their ears. The books have been a wonderful addition to the room as well. We have already read a few for movement activities and plan to use more throughout the year for instrument exploration.
With Covid-19 still very much an issue in school, the microban-24 allows me to spray down my instruments like the keyboards, electronic drum pads, and headphones at the beginning of the day. This means I do not have to worry about wiping instruments down between classes. Considering all my classes are back to back, this is a wonderful aid.
I look forward to doing more throughout the year with my students and your support is helping make ”

Funded Mar 26, 2021I cannot begin to thank you for your generosity. The pianos have been a huge hit in my classroom with multiple grade levels and other teachers and administration as well.
The floor mats have been used a few different ways. They have been used with my corn hole games that are painted with the lines and spaces of the treble clef. The colors match those of the floor mats and boomwhakers. Because the colors match, we have also used the floor mats with boomwhaker play along songs that can be found on youtube. One of my 4th grade students commented that the mats could be used in PE because they were getting a lot of exercise dancing around the mats playing the various songs. Grades 3-5 have enjoyed having some occasional free time exploring the pianos, recording their songs and sounding out the songs provided on color coded cards that came with the mats.
Next year I hope to take what we have started this year with the floor mats and perform a few songs dancing on the mats. With my 5th graders, I intend to have them compose their own songs to be played on the mats along with boomwhakers and percussion.”
