As we shifted from face-to-face learning to a digital/concurrent model of teaching, scholars were required to have their own laptop in order to have access to the live lessons and assignments. The biggest struggle with teaching digitally is not ensuring that all of my students have laptops, but making sure those laptops are charged and housed in a safe and secure location. Critical in this age of digital learning, a laptop charging station would ensure that all of my students begin their day with a fully charged computer! In our classroom, you will typically find laptop power cables stretched across the classroom floor and plugged in to wall outlets (definitely a safety concern as well). A laptop cart would resolve the challenges my fifth-graders face with keeping a fully charged laptop throughout the school day.
