The use of whiteboards and reading worksheets in small groups is a daily activity in my classroom. All students, especially students with learning disabilities, need to see the teacher model instruction. One of the best ways to do this is through the "I do, we do, you do" instructional model. During the "I do", instruction is given to the students through the teacher vocalizing his or her thinking process and models for the students. This part of instruction allows the teacher to scaffold the tasks being completed. The use of document cameras will allow ALL students to be able to see what the teacher and teacher assistants are modeling for students. Without the use of document cameras students struggle to see what the teacher is showing them. The cameras on teacher laptops and Chromebooks do not adequately show what the students need to see. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not struggle with seeing what the teacher is attempting to hold up on a piece of paper on the screen. Students will be able to follow along in real time as the teacher is talking. This will remove many barriers. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their classroom engagement.
