As a new ELA/SS teacher, it is difficult to build a diverse classroom library that has something for all readers. Independent reading time, and reading response journals, are a big part of their centers and having books like Dog Man and Goosebumps make even the most reluctant readers excited. When they find the right book, they love to share what they are reading with others in discussions. The other fiction books represent diverse main characters to add more representation, and my classroom library goal is to eliminate the phrase "there isn't anything to read."
