  • Let's Get Seated! (My Choice)

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

Wow! I can't adequately describe the impact these materials have had on my classroom. Due to this project, we have enough flexible seating for everyone to choose what works best for him/her. We trade around a lot as well! The bands have been amazing at cutting down on "foot stomping." It gives the "fidgeters" something to do with their feet! In addition - the cart has been amazing for our Literacy and Math Station work!It is versatile - so I can load it with "station work." The kids can then move it to a good location for them to complete their station. It has been amazing and the kids LOVE it!

Probably the most "loved" of all is the seating. The kids will work hard to earn a coupon to pick their particular kind of seating. I didn't realize the impact flexible seating could have on a classroom.

Thank you so much for your generosity. It is deeply appreciated. Every donor has been an absolute blessing for our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Self

  • Puzzling Evidence

    Funded Apr 18, 2019

I can't begin to tell you what an asset these Reading Concept activities will bring to my class this year! We are all excited. I took the pictures the first time I ever got them out, and you can see - they are intent on "getting down to business" with these activities. These different activities hit all of the main concepts we cover in reading each year. So, not only will they benefit my kiddos this year, but will help children for years to come! What an impact you are having - just in my classroom. Thank you for providing materials that are fun, engaging, and educational all at the same time. You are enabling these students to be successful now and in the future. Thank you again!”

  • Flexible Learning!

    Funded Aug 16, 2018

We are loving these chairs. The kids can be their "bouncy" self while they are learning. We have used them in the computer station - the writing station - for flexible seating and more! We even have a coupon they can earn to use the chair at their desk for a day!

There has been much research done on the benefits of flexible seating. Thanks to generous donors, we have many different kinds of seating for students to choose from now. They use what best fits them - and change periodically. Thank you!!!!”

  • Marvelous Math!!

    Funded May 12, 2018

I am so thankful I was able to attend this Math Conference. I have my masters as a Literacy Specialist and have always felt a little inadequate teaching Math. This conference had given me the confidence I need to ensure my little learners are successful in Math. The materials I bought, as well as the ones furnished have been invaluable since school started on August 15th.

This Math conference included Music, which imprints the subject matter on their brain. It included so-called "games." These "games" are really amazing learning and reinforcing activities for the students.

Once again - thank you so very much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Self

  • Super Stations

    Funded Apr 11, 2018

These 2 pieces of furniture have added so much to our learning!

The writing center has been used during our Literacy Station time. The students have the supplies they need readily available Before - we had a little table and there was no room for supplies - they had to bring them every time and you know what that means - forgetting something almost every time. So, in addition to being functional - it saves time. It also looks beautiful! We have many choices in this writing station and it is such a blessing to have it all together.

The computer table is being used for many purposes. We use it for our Chrome Books during tutorials. We also use it for Literacy Stations to listen to a book on CD. There is plenty of room for our basket - so students can respond to their learning without ever leaving the table. The pull-out serves to hold our basket. This too, looks beautiful.

The kids seem so pleased with the new furniture. We have a lot of low income families in our school and many have lost much due to Hurricane Harvey. I'm so pleased to be able to offer them a safe place to learn - that is functional as well as beautiful.

Words can't express how grateful our class is for your generous donation to make this possible for our classroom. We LOVE it - and MANY student in the years to come will benefit from your generosity!!”

  • Help! We've Got our Wires Crossed!

    Funded Jul 22, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Technology has become a vital part of the educational process. If we want our students to compete in this global world, it is important for them to have as much technology background as possible. These new headphones have been a lifesaver! Previously, the students would just naturally "play" with the wires on the headphones. This led to broken wires and many trips to Wal-Mart to buy new headphones on my part. These new wireless headphones have alleviated that problem.

The students think it is "cool" to have headphones without wires. They are very excited to be using them. They have even gained proficiency in turning them on and off. This sounds minor, but since they are operated by battery - a very important aspect, as each of the 8 headphones takes 4 batteries! The kids will remind each other and double check each other. I love that and it builds on my goal of having a team spirit in my classroom.

There are a couple of students who want to stay on the computer all the time. They love these headphones and have commented such. I can't express my and my students' gratitude enough. You have truly made a difference in my classroom and in my students' lives. Thank you again!”

  • Help! We Need Literature Organizers and Reading Help!

    Funded Dec 27, 2014

Wow - What can we say?? Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!

The students were so excited to receive our new Literacy Organizer and Close Reading Box. The students couldn't wait to see which "cubby" would be theirs on the organizer. They LOVE organizing their literacy papers for the week in their organizer! At the end of the week, they have a total portfolio to take home and share with parents.

The Close Reading Box is a big hit as well. I can use it in small groups for higher level thinking questions. They love trying to outdo each other with answers - the amazing discussions they come up with for the stories - and being able to make connections to what they read. Hopefully, this will "get them thinking" on everything they read.

As a result of your generosity - my students are being challenged - thinking more critically - and becoming more organized - even as I type this.

    Thank you again!!”

  • Help! We Need LIteracy Activities!

    Funded May 9, 2013

Thank you so much everyone! I can't tell you how excited my students are to use these wonderful Literacy resources! They LOVE working in partners to "perform" the partner scripts. For the writing station - they have told me they think the writing prompts that accompany each "subject" are helpful and really help "get their brain going!"

As for the Interactive White Board - these Literacy games are probably the most engaging learning tool we have as far as getting the students "into it." Thank you so much for this wealth of resources.

The kids love each and every resource. For me, as the teacher, it is rewarding to see the students taking ownership in what they are learning. The interactive games for the white board have especially helped the struggling readers!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Self

  • Help! No Place for Our Big Books!

    Funded Oct 11, 2012

I cannot tell you how excited the students are to use our new Big Book Holder! They can see the Big Books stored in the back. This makes a big difference, as they were in my closet before, and only came out at certain times! This is now one of our Literacy Stations and the students read big books and do all kinds of activities with them during this time. They also use it as a Word Study Station, making use of the magnetic white board on the front.

We truly appreciate your generous gift to our classroom. It has already made a big difference and will make a difference for students for years to come! Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Self

We are in South Texas at a public elementary school of about 850 students PK-5. We are located in a coastal town, which has chemical plants and fishing industries. We have many migrant families due to lots of agriculture in our area. Our students are over 70% free and reduced lunch, so many of them have had no exposure to a variety of life experiences, which would increase their knowledge. Our community includes a diverse group of cultures. We have Burmese refugee children, other Asian children, whose parents work at the plants, African American, Hispanic and White students. The students are very eager to learn and, for the most part, the parents want what is best for their child - no matter what. They may have limited income but they still try to help do whatever they can to help their children. The students LOVE books and Big Books are an enriching learning experience for them.
