Building Emotional Intelligence
Funded Oct 5, 2024I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredible generosity in donating the social-emotional tools to our classroom. The comfy floor chairs, magnetic fidgets, and stress balls have already made a significant difference in creating a more welcoming and supportive learning environment for my students.
These tools are not just items; they are instruments of growth and comfort. The floor chairs provide a cozy space for students to engage in independent learning and mindfulness activities, while the fidgets and stress balls have become invaluable aids in helping them self-regulate during moments of stress or distraction.
Your support empowers us to focus on the whole child, ensuring that their emotional well-being is nurtured alongside their academic growth. Watching my students light up as they discover these resources and learn to use them to manage their emotions has been truly inspiring.
Thank you for believing in the importance of social-emotional learning and for supporting our classroom. Your generosity is making a lasting impact, and I am deeply appreciative.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Savage
This classroom project was brought to life by .Gifting Nourishing Motivation
Funded Sep 10, 2021Thank you for fulfilling my request for gift cards as motivational incentive. The gift cards has served that exact purpose. On the last Friday every other month, we have a awards ceremony within the classroom. Students compete with each other to be one of the top students in several different areas, such as highest grade and perfect attendance among others, and be a recipient of a gift card. I requested the gift cards as a motivational strategy to inspire the students to work at their fullest potential. Since not everyone receives a gift card at the time of the awards ceremony, the students are motivated to work harder so that they are a recipient of a gift card for the next ceremony. After the first awards were given out, I overheard several students in different classes telling their classmates that they were going to get a giftcard next time.
When I first explained the awards and the opportunity to receive a gift card, students didn't seem interested until they discovered the gift cards were for nourishments. Food always seems to motivate the students. The students expressed their dissatisfaction with school lunch and determined that they wanted to get a gift card to buy themselves lunch on a day they were extremely disinterested in the school's lunch. This idea motivated the students to work hard so that they could receive a gift card.
The next step in this project is to continue motivating and rewarding the top students with gift cards. Students will receive awards for being the top reader, having the highest grade, being among the first to complete a segment in our specific curriculum along with a few more categories. My hope is that this year's reward system will develop a work ethic within the students that they will continue to strengthen in their next three years of high school. Again, thank you for you donations and helping to motivate my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Savage
