  • Cozy Up With A Book!

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

I can't thank you enough for your generosity in making our reading center a reality! Your contributions have already had an incredible impact on my students, and I'd love to share a glimpse of what's happening in our classroom.

When the new books and literacy resources arrived, my students' eyes lit up with excitement! Some couldn't wait to dive into their favorite stories, while others were eager to explore books beyond their reading level, feeling empowered by the challenge. One student even exclaimed, "This feels like a real library!" Seeing their enthusiasm reaffirmed how important this project is.

We've already put our new materials to great use! Last week, we started a "Reading Adventure Challenge," where students pick books that take them to different places—whether it's exploring space, diving under the sea, or stepping into history. They've been using the cozy reading nook you helped fund to immerse themselves in stories, and it's amazing to see how their confidence and love for reading are growing.

The next step? We're launching small group reading discussions where students can share their favorite books, build comprehension skills, and even write their own mini-stories inspired by what they've read. Your generosity isn't just providing books—it's sparking curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading.

Thank you for believing in my students and making such a meaningful difference. We can't wait to share more updates with you soon!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martin-Brown

  • Keeping Healthy!

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

I am writing in appreciation of your generous donation to our special needs students here at Miami Norland Senior High School. With your support, the students are able to continue with exercising and enjoying spending time with their peers. The students are given time on a daily basis to go out on the school track and throw the balls to each other.

My students enjoy spending time with their peers and other students that attend our high school, therefore when they first saw the equipment, they were so excited, smiling and jumping up and down.

I plan to continue having the students maintain a daily regime by incorporating exercise as well as maintaining a healthy diet.

Again, I thank you for support.”

    With gratitude,

  • Shout Out to You for Being You!

    Funded Mar 31, 2021

I am so pleased to have received the reading books along with the pouches. My students were smiling with great joy to have received the various books as a positive reinforcement for completing their assignments virtually. The online classes were a great challenge for some of the special education students but they continued and maintained adequate attendance. The stories were filled with colorful pictures and the large bold lettering provided students with an ease to follow while reading. The parents also was amazed as to how my students were provided with these wonderful resources. They also communicated to me that they found themselves reading and enjoying the stories that the students were given. I am thanking you for your continued support to all the students that received support from you as it relates to their education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Martin-Brown

I am requesting mindset practice journals, take-home pouches and books. Students who read these novels find reading fun and begin to read more for enjoyment! Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is a perfect way to build better readers. The novels are a gateway to better reading skills for reluctant readers. My students will love getting their hands on these. The novels will be for the students to continue learning at home. These novels will give the students something tangible instead of on the computer. These novels will be something that they can and should last for a lifetime.
