Imagine coming into a regular school day and being one of the 66% of students who have experienced at least one form of trauma by age 16. Now imagine that combined with the pandemic, economic, and political stress continuously going on in the world today. Trying to learn math, reading and writing might seem like the least important things in your life. But imagine there is an area in your school building that offers relaxation, peace, support and no judgment. A place full of comfy areas to sit while trying to make sense of your emotions, with fidgets and sensory tables to use while trying to calm your racing thoughts of what's going on at home. A place you feel comfortable going to get help when everything feels like it's too much and you're going to explode. Flexible furniture, sensory tables, counseling journals, mindfulness activities, yoga and more are as important for students learning as math books and reading materials. Emotional wellbeing comes first in order for children to be successful in school and the community. You can be a part of providing an entire school with the necessary tools to help hundreds of students meet their emotional and safety needs so that they can focus on their job as a kid; to learn and grow into the best versions of themselves they can be!
