In fourth grade, students learn about Colorado History. Students also learn about new genres in reading, one being historical fiction. I want to make reading about historical fiction authentic and relevant for my students by relating it to other content areas and based on where they live. It is important for students to get that passion for reading and understanding our history to help build great and active citizens in our state and country. My hope is them learning about the history of our state and country will help the students become good citizens in our future.
