My little artists are not only thoughtful and bright children, but they are also some very creative kids! The elementary school in which I work just recently got an art program, so students are always excited to come in and express themselves! They always come in the art room eager to see what we are working on that day. These students are kindergarten through fourth grade, and I currently have around 350 students I see in person during the week. There are 70 students that are virtual learners that I also interact with and teach weekly. This is a Title 1 school, and all kids receive free breakfast and lunch. The area we live in is a rural little community with big heart. Everyone is tight knit and cares for one another, and I can see that through my students. My kids display so much kindness and togetherness through these uncertain and strange times. It is comforting and uplifting to see such positivity in these children. They really inspire me, so I want to keep inspiring them! I consider Art class to be an outlet for these students. It’s a calming change of pace throughout their day, and I want to be able to keep on giving them the tools they need. I am only able to use certain art items currently due to COVID. I only use what I can easily sanitize and distribute with my large groups, so these specific items are being worn out quite quickly. My children love to paint and draw amazing pieces of work, so these items will help greatly with keeping them inspired and the creativity flowing!
