Having a Hydroponics system in a Life Science classroom opens a whole new world of learning. It places students in a room with the subject. From the reproduction of plants and fish, to watching those species inherit traits through generations, to discovering genetics. The hands-on exercises of picking plants, to identifying parts and functions. Decomposition and detritivore red wigglers munching away at a plant remains just feet away. Hydroponics is a living ecosystem you can see to teach about food chains and energy transfer. It is all this and so much more. Incorporating actual life in Life Science classrooms incorporates life long growth and knowledge. Besides the learning of classroom knowledge, students caring for the system teaches them basic plant and animal care. Daily care tasks to keep the students held to an account of responsibility. Thank you for your time and all you do. Looking forward to great things.
