I am writing today to say thank you for your generous donation. Having two iPads in our classroom has allowed the students to read online and take online reading quizzes. The iPads have also allowed the students to easily research topics for group reports and advance their own personal interests in academic subjects.
The touchpad of the iPads is much easier for young children to work with. We do have a few Chromebooks in our classroom, but the trackpad can be problematic for young students to work with. Having the touch screen on the iPads makes their navigation through the programs and assignments much more manageable.
The students in my class were very excited when the iPads arrived! I genuinely wish I had more in the classroom as they are a very popular option when using technology. I have one particular student who struggles with social skills and working with other students. The iPads have been incredibly beneficial to her because she can easily use them without asking for assistance. She is a high-level reader, so she also really enjoys the ease of looking up books to read independently.

Today's classrooms require technology. My second graders are eager to learn. It is so important to engage students in their learning and to help them feel they are the owners of their learning. I want the students to have choices on how they learn. The iPads give them those choices, to develop and understand their own learning. As the world is becoming more technology based, we will build on the Twenty-First Century skills that students need to be college and career ready. Early learners need technology that is developmentally appropriate to them. The donations to my project will help me build an environment that is student-centered, creates student-directed learning and develop skills for the future through using technology. As STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) is being integrated more into the classroom, students need to research and explore topics. The iPads give my students that ability and open up the possibilities for so much learning in my classroom.
