Reliable Laptop for Effective Teaching
Funded May 4, 2021I teach Journalism at my school and using technology is definitely a huge part of it. For many years, students have been using my desktop and/or a laptop I bought 5 years ago to create the newsletter and/or designs for the paper. As time passes, many programs and resources have been created in which students have shown an interest in using. Unfortunately, since the devices were older and didn't have a lot of memory on them, they were never able to upgrade or enhance the newsletter. Everything changed when this wonderful device was donated to our class. Students have blossomed in so many ways that it makes me proud to say - they have accomplished and achieved so many goals since then.
Students started using Canva to create their designs, they find resources they can download into the device and store them for other stories, and they convert files into PDF to publish their masterpieces! They enjoy using such an updated device with no limitations.
The Editor and Chief of the class has taken over and shown her leadership skills and has trained others to use the device as well. It has been a great experience for the entire class.”

Funded May 11, 2021It has truly been such a great experience using this device. I have been able to ZOOM with my students with such success, not to mention, stress-free! Prior to receiving this awesome device, there were always so many glitches and sound issues. It was frustrating and it took up a lot of my teaching time. Now, by simply connecting the air pods to my computer, students hear me without an echo and my voice sounds loud and clear.
When Covid hit, students had to adjust to learning from home. It was very hard on them and having to deal with technology issues didn't help either. I remember how every time I was reviewing text dependent questions or reading a story, there was always a sound issue. When students would tell me they couldn't hear me well, I tried adjusting my earbuds by putting the cord closer to my mouth but it never helped. I tried asking the students the questions again without the earbuds and they would hear an echo. It was aggravating on both ends so I decided to research for solutions. That's when I discovered that by using air pods and connecting them directly to my device, it would be cordless and I wouldn't have to worry about anything!
Since then, all has been fabulous! There have been no glitches or any concerns with sound. It has helped save time and keep the flow going while teaching. I am forever grateful for this donation.”
