  • BALL Value Pack for a Safer, More Engaged P.E. Class

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

I wanted to personally thank you for the donation to the project "Ball Value Pack for a safer, more engaged P.E. class." We upgraded our equipment to the contributions, and the students have been smiling that we have new equipment to play and learn with. More students can now participate simultaneously in our basketball unit, and I can have smaller group sizes, which means more practice time for them.

Our students have been playing with equipment that has been passed down for years and years, and when we brought out the new equipment, students thought we were made out of money because we have new equipment.

With the project, I use the donated equipment and the rest of the physical education department. We are so thankful for the donation, and our students will be able to go into the rest of the sports units with good equipment.

Thank you again, and sorry for the delay. It has been a hectic return back to school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chavez

  • DUAL-SCREEN for Physical Education. More screen more exercise

    Funded Mar 29, 2021

My "DUAL-SCREEN for Physical Education. More screen more exercise" was a success for myself and my students at Northridge Middle School. Having the extra screen allowed me to multi-task and assist students more effectively. I would have all my students on ZOOM on the monitor while easily controlling another screen from my laptop. In our physical education class, we focus on the importance of exercise and lifelong fitness. Having the monitor allowed me to supervise exercises and ensure students were doing them safely and effectively. The extra monitor was a huge weight off my shoulders trying to manage all my classes, adjust to zoom and utilize my small laptop screen.

Having that monitor has been life-changing. I want to thank DonorsChoose for providing this platform and assisting teachers in serving our students better.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chavez

Having another screen to work with will benefit the students as much as it benefits the teacher. If I were to have another monitor, I would be able to share more content when sharing screens as well as keep an eye on my students who have their cameras on. In physical education, students are expected to have cameras on and show examples of the skill we are working on for the unit. For example, if we are working on a basketball unit, students are working on a jump shot. In order for me to assess the students effectively, having ample screen space is crucial.
