Hello I'm Olivia C., LCSW and I am the School Social Worker at PAN Inspirada. Our students rely on supports to build skills to regulate and manage strong feelings, navigate difficult social situations and build their social emotional learning (SEL). They use tools taught within the school day to manage emotions, build perseverance when things are hard, learn to work cooperatively with others, and increase their ability to make responsible decisions for themselves. With support and SEL tools, they can ultimately thrive at school, at home, and in their relationships with others!
Second Step is a highly regarded, evidence-based social emotional learning curriculum that provides a researched framework to build SEL skills to manage strong feelings, deal with frustrations and disappointments, resolve conflicts, build healthy relationships and so much more. Social emotional learning is crucial at this time and with your assistance we will be able to support our students in building social emotional learning and increase resiliency skills, healthy relationship skills and self-management skills via the Second Step curriculum.
Academic success is truly possible when students are encouraged, taught, and assisted in developing SEL skills of self-awareness, social awareness, self-control, interpersonal skills, and responsible decision making.
It is more important now than ever to help our students build their SEL skills so they can more successfully manage challenging situations that they encounter daily. With our current model of learning (virtual and in-person) and continued pandemic stress, students now more than ever need assistance in increasing SEL skills. This curriculum will provide our students with skills they need to thrive. Skills to manage strong feelings, build their confidence and resiliency in order to create healthy identities, build healthy relationships and increase decision making skills that will improve their academic success and overall success in life.
