Students enjoy interacting and doing things in a science classroom. In my biology class, one of our major units is to understand the different forms and functions of different cells. Using microscopes, allow students to truly see different cell structures and associate them with their overall function. Having compound microscopes in my classrooms will allow my students literally to see the cells that make up their skin or see the cells in plants that allow the roots to inch down deeper in the dark. Being able to do labs with microscopes will allow my students to have the opportunity to do what a real scientist would do and see cells as they would never see them before.
