A Hole-In-One Opportunity
Funded Dec 31, 2024Thank you to the College Football Playoff Foundation, the Big Ten Conference, and Indiana Sports Corp. for turning this vision into reality for our students! We are so excited to add golf to our physical education program for the very first time! We are hopeful that it will drive the mission of our program to inspire students to live an active, healthy, and adventurous lifestyle!”

Volleyball Meets 4-Square: Spikeball!
Funded Sep 5, 2021Our students are using the Spikeball sets in our brand new Spikeball unit this year. This allows students to revisit skills like the overhand throw and striking with hands. We've played several games that will help them develop these skills, eventually leading to the ability to play an official game of Spikeball. For our older students, a game with modified rules has been a big hit!
Students were very curious about the new sets. Many had never seen or heard of Spikeball before. When I showed them a clip of people playing an actual game, they were fascinated.
Currently, we are finishing up our unit with friendly and competitive games. I hope to keep this unit as part of the curriculum every year. It addresses so many standards in a fun way. Not to mention, students are being introduced to a game they can play anywhere (even if they don't have the equipment).”

Soccer Golf and Foot Volley!
Funded Feb 15, 2021I want to share our appreciation for your generosity that helped Eastlawn purchase soccer and net supplies for our program! We were able to implement new games during our soccer unit that were safe and involved all students. For example, Soccer Snowball Fight, Soccer Monster Ball, and Soccer Golf were big hits with students! Also, the net system that came with the package was used during stations with our K-2 students. They loved playing a modified version of volleyball and badminton with balloons and pool noodles!
These games were new to our students and the response was better than expected! Because there was enough equipment, all students were engaged in the games. The laughter and some playful squeals were the best indicator that students were having a great time. Not to mention the red, sweaty faces were proof that they were getting in some good workouts!
Check us out on Instagram by looking for my account under @mr_mcwhirter There you'll be able to keep up with some of the fun things we're doing, and take a look back at the fun we had last year. We're looking forward to trying new activities this year! We appreciate you for contributing to our student's love for physical literacy and living a healthy lifestyle!”
With gratitude,
Mr. McWhirter
