Laptop Charging Cart
Funded May 4, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project. As a result of your generosity, we were able to get a brand new laptop charging cart for our classroom and new chargers to charge all of our ipads.
We use ipads each and every day to complete various tasks. We are mostly on a program called iReady which gives us a diagnostic (test) three times a year to see what grade level we are performing on, and it gives us assignments to complete throughout the school year that challenge us and attempt to get us performing on grade level or above. We are also on other programs that help with reading and math.
Before we were able to get the laptop charging cart, we had to charge our ipads in the office with the other ipads from other classes. We had to be strategic and get our ipads to the office before the others to get a spot in the cart. Now that we have our own, it's much more convenient to store and charge our ipads in our classroom. Once again, thank you so much.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you soooooo very much. Your donation is much appreciated. This means the world to us. It helps us to be our best and improve on an area that was once our weak spot. With this donation, you are helping to give us the necessary tools for our future success. We couldn't say thank you enough.”

Funded Sep 29, 2021Thank you sooooooo much for the seat sacs. They make such a huge difference in our classroom. Before the seat sacs I had to have a place in the room for each set of books to live. Transitioning between one subject to the next took up a lot of time during the day. I have 27 students so you can imagine collecting books from everyone, then passing out the next book. Leaves a lot of time for mischief to take place.
When the students came in and saw the seat sacs for the first time, they loved it. There was a chorus of ohhh's and ahhhh's. Now, transition time is much smoother. Most books are kept in the seat sacs. The only issue is that we aren't able to put the chairs up on top of the desks to make it easier for the custodians to clean.
Next steps for the class is to get our own devices. Only about 10 students have devices and we need some specifically for our classroom. Again, thank you so much for all that you've done. Happy holidays!”

Mr. Anderson

Funded Aug 19, 2021From the time the books arrived, students were going through the box, taking out books that were attractive to them, and hugging them! As a new teacher, I thought it was very important to have a new library full of books that look attractive. I was awarded the bins and easy readers for the lower leveled library late in the school year last year. This package, helped me to get the higher leveled library kick started. I see that I could still use more books, but at least students with higher reading levels have attractive new books to read.
In my classroom, we have D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) time for 10-15 minutes a day. We have some bean bags and a nice carpeted area where students can get comfortable and read a book of their choice just for the fun of it. I also have to stop working during that time and read a book of my own. I want the students to develop a love for reading.
Every now and then, I'll ask the students to complete a small summary of what they're reading about, or I'll ask them to write a small moment in the book that made them laugh, think, smile, feel sad, or something else. It gives me a chance to see if they're really engaged and if they understand what's happening in the book. Thank you so much for the opportunity for us to love reading.”

Funded Jan 21, 2021Thank you so very much for donating to this project. Although it was delivered in April, I didn't receive it until June but I did put things up in the class to get a feel for it all and to see how it would look in the classroom. I wish I could send a picture because it looks incredible! Not as big as I thought they would be which is perfect.
The children absolutely loved it as I was going for a rainbow theme this year. They mentioned how it fit right in. Even the principal came in and commented on how great it looked and encouraged the rest of the staff to come take a look.
I was going to use it as an addition to my alphabetical library to hold other themed books, but now that I see the size of the bins I will use them fit my alphabetical library and the other bins that I have for themed books. It's going to look great. Thanks again.”

Class Library!
Funded Dec 29, 2020Thank you so much for donating to my project. You helped give my class a great new library of books. The library looks so great in our classroom. The children love it. I also got bean bags so that the children would grow a new love for reading. In the beginning of the day, we have a period called Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R. Time). You should see them. They absolutely love DEAR Time. If I forget it, they are so quick to remind me that they need dear time. We even made bookmarks for them to mark their places. It is so cute.
Having a new library with about 10-15 books on each level allows each child the freedom to find books on their level. We learned how to choose a "just right" book. As a new teacher, I did not know the students' reading levels. I had to go by what I was told the levels were the previous year. The students were able to start on that level and challenge themselves to move up when the books became easy to read. That was done until I was able to test them on their accurate reading level. They loved the challenge.
Teaching in a special education class is difficult at times. Sometimes the students don't talk with clarity of thought. It takes them a while to get their thoughts out, then I would have to figure out what they were talking about. These books are helping them put thoughts together properly. To be able to read complete thoughts is a great help. When I ask them what's happening in the book, they are becoming more able to explain the events. They are really starting to grow as readers. Thank you so much.”
