As a librarian for more than twenty years, I've read almost every book on the list; I'm excited to start sharing this diverse collection at my school. Seeing themselves in books will increase our students love of reading, and learning about other cultures will expand their vision of the world. To accomplish this, I'll read the picture books to students in all grades, and give book talks on the longer titles to our second, third, fourth, and fifth graders. Students will be able to check books out to read at home or in their classrooms.
