These books will open up opportunities for students to read as a group and engage in activities that go along with the book. The goal is to encourage the students to read and develop their vocabulary and reading skills as well as form a love for reading. Although these books are not on their grade level, they are based on their academic level. I am hoping to increase their overall reading scores as well by providing guided reading time and activities. The content that will be used will vary and include fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
