Energy drives all motion, yet students do not always understand the connection between the two. Hands-on design and constructing paper roller coasters will help bridge that gap for students. Before building the coasters, students will learn the basics of motion and energy and explore the field of engineering and mathematics in creating actual roller coasters. Students will use their knowledge to design and construct their own paper roller coasters. LaunchEd students will create videos of their roller coasters, which other classes at the school may watch. Face to face students will display their coasters for other school students to view, as well as create video presentations. The roller coasters will benefit both the students directly involved in the project, as well as the younger kids at the school who get to see the coasters in action.
