  • Sewing Lab Expedition

    Funded Jun 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your gift of sewing! Our Crossroads students have thoroughly enjoyed the process of sewing and learning functional making skills. They can now take these skills out into the world and be empowered by them.

When the students first found out about this donation they were thrilled. They found the books very helpful and we were able to make pillows, purses, and mend socks.

Thank you again for this gracious gift. We look forward to taking this project to the next step and having a fabulous fashion show!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Swan

  • Middle School Art- Sumi Ink Unit

    Funded Mar 17, 2021

We are deeply grateful for your support of the Sumi-Ink Unit. It has brought so much peace and exploration to the classroom and the students have had the opportunity to explore outside cultures and art-making techniques.

In these turbulent times, art-making is providing students with an outlet for joy and self-expression. Most of my students are already into Anime and fascinated with Japanese culture, so when they first learned of this unit, they were very enthusiastic. Many students had never even heard of Sumi-Ink painting and did not know that they could actually make their own inks. The ink grinding process allowed students to slow down, be patient, and find inspiration in nature. They also were able to embody and appreciate a culture outside of their own.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Swan

I was able to do a lot with the Supplies. I feel like I used what was given to me.I want to just say thank you for donating!" -CPA Artist

"I actually really like the art kits. They had everything I needed to make stuff in class and outside of class. The sketchbook that was provided is really nice because it isn't just straight white, it's more of a yellow tint. I also put some stickers that I had on my sketchbook. The entire kit itself is very good and helpful and I'm glad I got it"

Each subject has its own unique challenges with virtual learning and as a Middle School Art teacher, I have found that the most challenging part of virtual learning has been getting the proper supplies to my artists. I hope that by getting these supplies in the hands of my these students, they will feel fully prepared and confident to share their art. This will eliminate both the students and parents feeling that they need to ask for assistance with supplies as each student will have the same great quality of supplies to express themselves. Not only will these kits have supplies for painting and drawing but students will be given a small mask making kit for a mask give away. Through this project, they will learn a viable life and art skill as well as help keep their community safe. Each donation is greatly appreciated as each kit costs about $7 to assemble and be dropped off to each child. Thank you for your consideration and donation. Make art, make change!
