  • Headphones, Learning Aids and Seating, Oh, My!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. The headphones have allowed the students in all of 6th grade to access books, videos, and other related content. They have also helped students with different abilities use speech-to-text to support their learning. Some students even use them to help with focus if other students are talking about the curriculum, and they need to get individual work done.

The seat cushions have been so helpful when the students are in or out of their seats. They help them be more comfortable and give them many options for where they can sit to work independently or in small groups. Two students with physical issues have remarked about how they can focus more with the comfort of these cushions.

I can't thank you enough for helping every student access the curriculum, and have the ability to do their work in comfort.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Drinan

  • Dry-Erase Table for Small-Group Instruction

    Funded Sep 8, 2023

My students are benefiting every day from the dry-erase table. I am able to help so many students strengthen their math skills individually and in small groups.

Due to the large size of the table, students have plenty of room to work together, which helps them explain their thinking and more fully grasp the concept.

They are able to come for extra help, work out the solution on the shared whiteboard surface, and work toward independence in the skill.

Thank you so much for your support! You have helped 42 students achieve their education goals every day. I appreciate your donation and the impact you had on my students.”

    With gratitude,

  • Meeting Area Rug for Comfort and Learning

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

Thank you so much for the donations for our new classroom rug! The students were so excited to see it, and they couldn't wait to use it.

My students now happily come to the rug during story time, instructional time, and even ask if they can do their independent work on the rug. Giving them the choice to work in a more comfortable environment increases their enthusiasm for learning.

The rug is beautiful, with a tree and large leaves pictured. They like to sit on a leaf, and one student used the leaves as groups to help her figure out a multiplication problem!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Drinan

  • Chairs for Active Learners

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

Thank you so much for the donations to our classroom! The students were thrilled to see the new, comfortable chairs. These chairs have a little bounce, which helps my friends who are wiggly move while learning and working.

They enjoy the soft feel of the chairs, and I appreciate how safe they are for my students who tend to lean back in typical chairs. These don't tip, but have that movement the kids need. The smiles on their faces say it all when they are in one of our new chairs.

Thanks again for making my classroom fit the needs of my students.”

    With gratitude,

  • Chairs that Bounce for Active Learners

    Funded Apr 30, 2021

My students were thrilled with the new chairs in the classroom! We decided to take turns using them and other flexible seating so everyone gets a chance to use the seating that's just right for them.

These chairs have a little bounce, so they are perfect for the kids who tend to tip their chairs onto two legs. They can't do that with these, which makes them so much more safe. They also bounce, so it helps them with their movement needs while they are thinking and learning.

Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom. You have made a difference in these students'lives!”

    With gratitude,

  • Hokki Stools for Active Learning

    Funded Dec 4, 2020

Thank you so much for the Hokki stools for the classroom. I unboxed the stools in front of the kids, and their eyes were wide when they saw the new seating. They were so excited when they saw the stools, they all wanted to use them right away!

The students are using the alternative seating daily, and the impact is clearly positive. The kids who have these stools are more focused, are able to move while staying in control of their bodies, and are building core strength at the same time. I have other kinds of "wiggle stools" in the room, but these are far superior. I have made a list so every child can have a chance to use them.

One of my students said it best when he remarked, "The Hokki stool is my favorite! when I get one I know I'm going to have a good day!"

Thank you so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Drinan

My school is a Title I targeted assistance school where some of my students do not have the necessary supplies to cultivate their learning. My job is to meet the needs of all my students and with your help my diverse group of third graders can achieve to their fullest potential. My goal as their teacher is to create lifelong learners and strong members of their community. "When you move, you stimulate all the nerve cells that we use to think with, and when you stimulate those nerve cells, it gets them ready to work," Dr. John Ratey, an expert in neuropsychiatry. Kids also need to move in order to pay attention. Giving kids a chance to move while they are learning is essential in a third grade classroom. These Hokki stools will give everyone a comfortable seat while providing them the opportunity to move while sitting. The ergonomic stools allow for freedom of movement and provide support for children while also making them engage their core to stay sitting upright. Children with physical disabilities can also benefit from sitting on Hokki Stools as they work to develop better trunk control. Supplying our classroom with these resources will allow students the opportunity to move substantially more throughout the day and promote a healthy posture. While gaining a foundational understanding of the importance of their health, students will also experience the connection between the mind and the body!
