As you can imagine, Kindergarten is a very tactile learning experience. Virtual Kindergarten presents a real challenge in this regard! As one of the highest poverty districts and zip codes in the country, many of my students do not have access to even basic learning materials. To ensure a consistent, efficient, and reliable learning experience for all, I am providing much needed At-Home Learning Kits for my students. I have curated a list of materials to create these kits. The kits will include hands-on manipulatives such as snap cubes and 2 color counters. They will also contain writing materials, including dry erase boards and markers, scissors, glue sticks and crayons. This approach will ensure equity among students and provide a similar learning experience to what they would have in a classroom. My goal is to prevent my students from being behind when they enter 1st grade and participate in face to face instruction. They are currently at a disadvantage not having access to the materials supplied in a classroom. By providing these kits, I will be able to differentiate student learning, by meeting their needs creating equality with the hands-on materials necessary for Early Education.
