Preparing for Future Master Pieces

Funded Apr 3, 2021

With your generous support, my sixth grade class used their own art materials for the first time! One of my students asked if they were able to keep the supplies in their desk, or were the supplies going to be collected. That statement affirmed the fact that students were expected to share crayons, and draw on copy paper. Sadly, Art is not considered an important subject in our school system.

Every morning I was asked, "Are we were having Art today?" I had to incorporate art in Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math. We drew maps, story characters, story setting, and illustrated math problems. Every chance they had, the students were using their art materials. The joy expressed in their drawings were inspiring. They were given the opportunity to express themselves through art without judgement, and with real art supplies.

Watch out for the Future Master Pieces!”

With gratitude,
