  • Help New English Language Learners!

    Your generous donations helped my class immensely during the most crucial times of the pandemic. My class of young learners had to face so many changes, with social distancing, class closures, school closures, as well as quarantining. Having these chrome books ensured that my students had a device to use when necessary. It also helped me to tackle any technical issues they may have been having at home with google classroom, by having this extra set of devices handy. I continue to use these devices along with my document camera and amplifier to make learning more accessible. It is not easy to teach young ones while wearing a mask and being socially distanced. They are not able to see my facial expressions or read my lips to understand what I am saying, so I use these chrome book devices to record audio read alouds of our lessons, as well as screen castify videos. For these reasons and many more, your donations have been a true gift that keeps on giving! Thank you!”

Supplies such as headphones, crayons and pencils are used daily in my classroom, and by the middle of the year, these supplies begin to dwindle down. Especially this year with the pandemic, it is important to keep my students safe which means that we cannot share baskets of supplies like crayons and pencils.     This was my first time receiving funding for a project. With the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards I received, I was able to choose the best digital resources necessary for my class of English Language Learners. I purchased digital activities for Reading, Grammar, Phonics, and Math that include fun learning games and tasks that are read to them! Everyday, they are excited to try this digital activities out on their own, which gives them a sense of independence and accomplishment.

    The most exciting thing about these resources, is that we have created QR codes that my students can scan to complete tasks on their own. This is a really big deal for my English Language Learners. I am so thankful.”

These materials will make a HUGE difference in my students’ learning, because they must often navigate this new learning environment on their own, without the help of their parents. Most of my students do not have any type of device at home to help them when we are learning together from home. There has been a shortage and a waitlist for these devices and I have a larger than average class size, with the most needs.
