In the virtual setting, we use whiteboards daily activity in my classroom in math and in reading. They help to keep students engaged and assist with checking for understanding. Students need whiteboards for guided practice, to justify solutions with strategies. They also use them to respond to questions about the text. The whiteboards allow me to assess their understanding of what's being presented, as well as provides a quick and easy way for them to show and share their work. Quite often when I ask students to get out their whiteboards, almost 50 percent of the class responds that they do not have one. So they usually have to use lined paper which is very hard to see on the screen. Those that have whiteboards markers, have dry erase markers that have run out; which is also problematic. I have also noticed that students have become quite inattentive due to consistent learning online and extensive screen time, which impedes their learning. I really wan them to grasp the skills presented and am always trying to find ways to keep them excited and engaged. Thus, I would love to be able to purchased incentives to keep students motivated to learn. By donating to our project, you will not only be helping to increase student engagement; but you will be pouring into their future and helping to increase their overall academic achievement. Students will be able to be more prepared and focused when they have necessary materials at hand. They shouldn't have to worry about not having the necessary materials for class and should have extra motivation for being safe responsible and respectful!!
