  • Sensory Station to Soothe the Mind

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

The sensory space is up and running! I cannot begin to describe the amazing reception it has had from the students. The sensory cubes are so relaxing for them to watch and sit on to cool down. The sensory walls have been a huge hit and my students love touching all the different types of tactile fabrics. The fidget spinners and squishy toys on the door have also been used by all at the end of class. I am so grateful to be able to give these students an amazing cool down experience after working so hard in my class! Thank you again for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Teri

  • Equip My Kiddies for APE

    Funded Oct 4, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for the amazing support for my classroom. The new equipment has had such great reception for my students.

The sensory tiles have been put out multiple times during their "free time" and they absolutely love stepping, jumping and hopping from tile to tile. They were so excited when they saw them, staff as well. The sensory balls have also been a hit and have motivated the students to practice their throwing. The magnetic bug tile board was also used as a way to practice their overhand throw. The cuddle ball is very popular for sensory time and the students choose it also. The seal ring toss was absolutely fantastic. We named them Jack and Diane.

With Valentines day approaching I am going to be putting out our love monster that loves to catch balls. I am going to be using all the sensory balls to throw to our love monster from the students. Thank you for helping make my room a fun place to learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Teri

I work with Autistic students who have highly individualized sensory needs. I love working with equipment that is fun and like to think out of the box to catch my student's attention and get them excited about working on their object control, locomotor, and gross motor development. The frog mitts will definitely increase interest in practicing throwing the fly back and forth. Sensory balls will be used by all students to increase participation and for their sensory breaks. I will use all new equipment to help them reach their individualized adapted physical education goals. I look forward to a fun year with new activities that will enhance my student's learning experience and get them back on track with their goals.
