Needing extra help in school can be stressful and tough for some students during a normal year. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, remote learning from home brings new stress and obstacles to some students. The students I hope to bring extra assistance to are kind, creative, smart kiddos who need an extra boost in their education. This year that extra boost is scheduling. Students who are late or don't log on to live meets miss out on important classroom community time and unfortunately miss vital academic time as well. Students' schedules will be set up to verbally remind five minutes before class. This will teach them the importance of following a schedule, it can boost their independence, and it gives them an equitable chance at their academics. Setting up a Google Nest Mini is an easy way to remind students to log into a class on time. I purchased one for each of my sons to start the year out remotely, and it has been a great confidence builder for independence.
