  • Making Students' Thinking Visible

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation! The supplies I got helped to make my room more colorful and helped to provide my students with items that helped bring their work to the next level.

The markers provided helped students make their projects more colorful and vibrant. The sensory /fidget toys helped my students focus on their lessons and not get distracted. The chart paper helped me make anchor charts for students so they can contextualize what they are learning.

The supplies helped bring my students in their learning and helped make our science lab more engaging.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lodi

  • Measuring in Science Class

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation. Students have already used the supplies multiple times and have been very engaged due to the supplies donated. The meter sticks that were donated have already been used in multiple lab projects even though we have only had them for a couple of weeks at this point.

Students took the meter sticks to our courtyard to help them explore abiotic and biotic factors that are found in our courtyard. They used the meter sticks to measure their findings.

Also, today, students used the meter sticks to help explore collisions between two objects. The meter sticks were used to create a track for the the balls. Students recorded their observations when balls of different masses collided at different speeds.

Students will continue to use the meter sticks and all the other supplies throughout the school year, making their exploration of science more hands-on and interactive.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lodi

  • Help Make Science Visible For My Students

    Funded Dec 7, 2020

Thanks for your support for my classroom. The supplies I was able to get through Donor's Choose helped make my classroom more inviting and engaging for my students. I was able to make colorful signs and anchor charts that helped anchor my students' science learning remotely for the entire school year. I had originally planned to use the supplies in person for my students, but my students and I remained remote the entire school year, so I used the supplies to make their remote classroom experience feel like they were in an actual classroom.

I also was able to receive paper and ink for my printer. I used those supplies to print out materials to have reading interventions for a select group of students who needed help increasing their reading level. Using the printouts helped make the reading lessons go smoothly, and the students who participated were able to increase their reading level.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lodi

The supplies requested would be tools to make their learning visible to middle school science students in Harlem. I am requesting supplies to help me make learning fun and creative for them. Painting and sculpture supplies will help them turn projects into colorful masterpieces, which will also help make our school building more lively and beautiful, and feel more inviting. Having sculpture wire will allow students to build models of concepts taught in science, including DNA strands. Also, bright colorful paint will help them Crete projects on ecosystems. I also would like some supplies so I can create material that is colorful and engaging for my students. Printer ink and sharpie markers will help me create charts and visuals that will help students grasp complex ideas. Especially when we are in a blended setting, have an engaging workplace is beneficial to student engagement. I want my classroom in the school and out of school to feel conformable to my students, and provide visuals that allow the students to feel like they are in school and in a happy, nurturing environment. These supplies will help my middle school science students bring their projects to the next level. They will create poster models with the paints, and also sculptures of DNA with the sculpture wire. I am very excited to participate in this opportunity and make the learning experience for my students as rich as possible.
