Using Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom for virtual teaching is great. What's not great is trying to teach using a smart notebook and those platforms simultaneously. Having the second monitor will allow for a more seamless classroom (virtual and in-person) experience. For a lot of lessons, I am switching between GeoGebra, Desmos, Smart Notebook, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom, and even reference material examples from websites. Keeping my virtual class on one screen and my lesson on the other will help with the constant "hold on, let me switch applications" or "hold on, let me see if there are any chat questions." With the current environment of virtual classrooms and virtual lessons, teachers have become more and more reliant on technology to do so. One of the issues with teaching virtually is trying to live video conference, work out math problems, and actively engage students while remote. One of the hindrances is when the only monitor a teacher has is either their laptop screen or a single monitor. A second monitor is needed.
