The majority of students on my caseload will begin hybrid learning in December, which means they will be doing in-person learning 2 days/week and remote learning 3 days/week. These students will be required to carry all of their materials back and forth to school. Many of my students have difficulty with executive functioning skills, including the ability to organize and prepare school materials. These students will require 2 sets of school supplies - 1 set for each learning environment. These supplies include dry erase pockets, dry erase markers (various sizes due to individual student needs), and pencils. Many of my students also require additional materials to help them focus and attend during instructional times, including fidgets (i.e. Glacely Fidget Toy, Kelz Kids Water Bead Stress Balls, Stress Balls for Kids, Spiky Sensory Toys, ArtCreativity Spiky Balls, Meekoo Fidget Bean Toys, and Bean Bags Fidget Toys), wobble cushions, noise canceling headphones (i.e. Neiko Adjustable Safety Ear Muffs), sand timers, liquid motion bubblers, and chair bands. Students will need 2 sets of these additional materials as well.
Many of my students would also greatly benefit from wearing vibrating watches (i.e E-Vibra Potty Training Timer Watches) as a means of discretely reminding them to attend to lessons and their work. During remote learning, teachers must resort to calling out students' names to redirect them, which is both disruptive to the learning environment and embarrassing to students.
Lastly, safety guidelines do not allow for students to share materials or attend small group sessions with students from other classes. Therefore, I need additional supplies (i.e. laminating pouches and hook & loop dots) to make multiple sets of instructional materials, as well as transparency film to place over workbooks so I can erase and reset lessons taught multiple times during the day.
