The use of Power Point, Nearpod, and other interactive apps is almost a daily activity in my classroom with all my groups. I need to help my students grow academically by acquiring the necessary linguistic competence to achieve their goals through rich texts and engaging activities usually mediated through technology. The smartboard allows me to show the contents of my lessons and foster participation but it is usually limited to one student at a time. Although this is common practice accross the board, I have seen that it creates tension among my kids and sparks side conversations, and other distractions by those who are not directly participating at the board. Even though they are great about doing this, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction form either myself or other students. By having Apple pencils, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on individually working on their texts in their tablets! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to boots their communicative competence thus attaining their goals. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not waste time waiting for their turn or socializing. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
