  • Headphones for Education

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

Your generous donation of headphones have made it possible for my students to properly listen to the videos on our learning platforms. They are currently preparing for the Industry Certifications Tests (Word Expert 2016; Excel Expert 2016, PowerPoint, Outlook, QuickBooks Online, and Entrepreneurship & Small Business). These certifications will allow my students to graduate high school career ready. The electronic cleaning wipes allows us to keep our technology virus free, thus, mitigating the spread of Covid-19 and other viruses' and bacteria.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Villanueva

This classroom project was brought to life by Nickelodeon and 2 other donors.
  • Graduation Day Gift for 2021 Seniors

    Funded Mar 30, 2021

My students received the graduation pens as a gift and their graduation cords for the club I sponsor at school; Business Professionals of America (BPA). The smiles on their faces was a ray of sunshine in my day. They put on their cords and were modeling with them on. They are so excited to display them during their graduation ceremony this upcoming Monday, June 7th. I do not have words to express my gratitude to the generous donors on this website. The gifts were surely appreciated by my students.”

  • Resumes For "On the Job Training" Students

    Funded Dec 8, 2020

Thank you so much for helping provide my students with a folder to carry their resumes and resume paper. They will have a higher probability of getting hired with a professional looking resume. I have been teaching them how important first impressions are in the employment process, and how a well written and presented resume is the key to get an interview.

The students were very excited about receiving their gift. They were unaware that there is a special paper you can use for presentation purposes. In addition to the paper, I have helped them select appropriate resume formats for different positions they are applying for as well as different fonts and even graphics to add to their resumes.

We will be printing their resumes in color in the classroom. I am also teaching them how to customize their resume for different industries and different purposes. For example, their resume for college will have different information than their resume for employment. And their employment resume for a job in retail will have different information than their resume for a job in the hospitality industry.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Villanueva

  • Two Screens

    Funded Nov 23, 2020

Thank you for the additional screen. Now I can answer my students' questions and/or concerns while I go over the work with them. I can allow students into our ZOOM class with ease as my two screens allow me to see all my students that are in ZOOM while I am teaching and sharing my other screen. I can also give them immediate feedback on their work in real time privately via the ZOOM Chat as I review their work on the second screen. Attendance is taken more accurately as I can see them on one screen while I enter the attendance in the other screen. I cannot thank you enough for the donation. It has allowed me to deliver instruction on a more personal level as I would in the classroom through differentiated instruction.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Villanueva

This classroom project was brought to life by Two Screens for Teachers and one other donor.
I am the only teacher in the "On the Job Training Program" and "Career and Technical Education Internship" as such I teach dual modality (students at home and students physically in the classroom). It is very difficult to deliver the full lesson as I need to share my screen to teach and then I cannot monitor the students, or if I monitor and assist the students I have to stop sharing the class material. Some students do not like to ask questions live and send messages in the chat during class, however, I do not always see their questions as I cannot see them if I am sharing my screen teaching. Thus, these students sometimes leave class with questions unanswered or have to send their concerns via Remind after class. This is not as effective as I would like to be with them. I want them to succeed, to understand that no matter where you come from if you work hard and stay focused you can achieve. I want them to believe in themselves as I do. What better example than a hispanic, single mother, working a minimum wage job, and was able to earn a Bachelor's degree and is currently working on her Master's Degree. I could go back to the business world and make a higher salary but, schools like mine need teachers that care to help students that seem not to care. It is a challenge to help them understand their worth and possibilities.
