  • Clear Vision for All

    Funded Jan 21, 2025

My project has officially been fully funded. Thank you so much for your support for my classroom. I know that this will be a benefit to not only my current students, but students that I will teach over the coming years. My students have been asking about the tv and I am excited to see how it affects learning in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Horan

  • Quality Content Creation

    Funded Nov 24, 2020

It has now been over two months since I received the iPad and Apple Pencil from my Donors Choose project. I have been using them every day since receiving them and I grow more and more in love with the ways that I am learning to use them as I teach my classes.

The biggest use that I have found so far is using my iPad and Apple Pencil for my daily math lessons. In the past, I taught my math lessons using my whiteboard and whiteboard markers. Because I didn't want to smear the colors of different whiteboard markers together, I ended up teaching the entire lesson with one color. With the Apple Pencil and iPad, I can use as many colors as I want and I try to use them to help make my work more organized on the board. This makes my lessons easier to follow for the students.

I feel like that one benefit has helped my students so much, but I will continue to find more ways to get the most out of this iPad and Apple Pencil. I am teaching myself to make online videos for any students to watch at home if they are absent or just need a refresher to do their homework. The possibilities are endless as I push myself further to use these gifts more effectively. Thank you for making this possible for me.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Horan

  • Headphones with Microphones for Voice Recording

    Funded Feb 19, 2021

Thanks to the generous donations to our classroom on previous projects, we were able to apply the extra money from those other projects to fund this project that will benefit our students. The headphones will be put to great use and we will make sure that our students take good care of them for years to come.”

Technology is becoming more and more prominent in our elementary school classrooms. Teachers used to have to use overhead projectors to show their work on the board. It was really exciting when document cameras came out. This made it so that transparencies weren't a thing any more. Teachers could take any item or piece of paper and project it on the screen. The only problem with both overhead projectors and document cameras are that you are stuck in one spot of the classroom the entire time you are using it. Technology has improved to the point where teachers don't have to be stationary while using a document camera. With the use of an Apple TV, I would be able to hook up an iPad or many other items to my projector and move around while projecting my work. That opens up so many options for me as a teacher to be able to show student work more easily as well as utilize the capabilities of the iPad while projecting to the class. In addition to the Apple TV, I am asking for a new iPad and an Apple Pencil. I like to think that these three items will work perfectly together in my classroom. Having an Apple Pencil will help me best write on the iPad when I am using it. It will help my writing be easier to read. I plan on using this new iPad to create math videos for students who may be absent on any given school day, or for all students should we transition again to online learning. Thank you for helping fund this project so that I can more effectively teach my incredible students this school year and for years to come.
