With changes to this school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have had to adjust my music lessons to be more portable. Rather than having my students come to the music room, I essentially bring the music room to them in their classrooms. Because I move from room to room, I am limited in the instruments I can bring. The piano is my primary instrument, and the students love the quality and variety of sound it can bring to our lessons. However, I have been unable to use the piano this year because it is too difficult to move. I would love to give my students to opportunity to hear and to play the piano again. I have one student in particular who would particularly benefit from this keytar; We'll call him Student M. Due to his visual impairments, Student M. has trouble safely navigating his environment and looking around him. He absolutely loves to hear the piano and requests that it be played while he sings and dances around the classroom. With this keytar, our goal is to be able to continue to provide the piano sounds that Student M. loves while also addressing his visual needs by practicing moving around and navigating his environment while we sing.
