Outdoor Resources for Pre-K
Funded Nov 15, 2021First off THANK YOU! Your donation has allowed my students to fully explore the outdoors and actually enjoy their time out on our courtyard! The first time my students saw the playground toys was when we were on a walk around the school. We do this walk almost daily to improve our hallway expectations. When we walked past the double doors that look into the courtyard, my students started to giggle with excitement! Claiming they were going to ride the pink scooter first and then ride the blue bike and then "cook" in the outdoor mud kitchen. My students were so excited to explore all of the new toys! When we finally went outside for recess, the students made a mad dash to enjoy one of the new toys. The best part about this is there were finally enough trikes and scooters for all of my students to enjoy at one time! I have a set of identical twins who have loved riding the two scooters purchased in unison. They are so funny they will go from one end to the next riding the scooters. In conclusion, THANK YOU! My students are so excited and seeing the smile on their faces every day when we go outside to play is absolutely unbeatable.”

Funded Dec 11, 2020First, I want to say THANK YOU for your donations. We have been told by our school district that we are on the list for an actual playground set but will likely not receive one for at least another two years. When the playground toys started arriving to school, we were still virtual. I tried my best to explain to the students how exciting this opportunity was since I don't think it quite processed with them what exactly I meant. Schools finally opened back up and they were able to actually see why I was so happy about this project getting funded! When we got to go outside for our first recess my students could not contain their excitement. There were happy screams and lots of competition to try the new buggies, bikes, and basketball net.
Recently, we had a dunk contest using the basketball net and students showed off their best tricks. They love spending time pushing each other in the buggies and racing on the bikes. Often times, the girls in class like to hold hands while riding in the buggies together and it is the sweetest thing!
Now that we have had our toys for a few months now and have finally been able to get rid of our "toy graveyard" full of unusable toys, I can tell that recess is way more enjoyable for my students. We try to extend our outside time as much as we can and are about to start our balls study which we will most definitely use the basketball net for. I want to give one final thank you as without your donations, we would still be playing in an empty courtyard.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ridgely
