Center Organization
Funded Dec 18, 2020This was a big project that I've been praying to have funded. You have truly blessed me with a classroom that now has an organized literacy and math center! This 24 bin organizational shelf is color coded, which makes it easy to explain centers to first graders.
There are so many different possibilities, including organizing by content, by reading levels/groups, by specific activities, and by days of the week. Students will be able to pull out the trays based on my direction.
Donors like you make life of a teacher more manageable, and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Thank you once again for all your support!”

Organize This Classroom!
Funded Dec 17, 2020This project was well overdue! Thank you so very much for providing my classroom with organization! Throughout the years, teachers accumulate so many different materials and then before we know it, we are scrambling to figure out where to put all the "stuff."
The 4 liter bins will help keep my science supplies in order and easily accessible. Right now, I have all the materials and supplies crammed in one bin which is overflowing. By organizing each particular learning strand, I will have the materials at my fingertips. I also have many files that are just lying in the cupboard. The clear 4 pack bins will house my folders for safe keeping and will allow me to pull them out with ease.
I love the bins that now hold my hand soap and hand sanitizer which I keep neatly stored under the sink. These little things are just so important in helping to keep a classroom organized. I thank you so very much for your generous donations!!”

Sensory Overload
Funded Dec 15, 2020I am just amazed at your generosity in funding my project, "Sensory Overload." This project includes a double-sided magnetic board, magnetic letter tiles, and translucent sensory beads.
During guided reading I lacked my own magnetic board to use as a teacher model. Now, with your generous donation, I will be able to use the magnetic board to help my students with making words and identifying letter sounds, while using the magnetic letters. The magnetic letters will also be used at the light table during center time, along with the sensory beads.
I cannot wait to use these much needed materials with my first graders! Thank you again for all your support!”

Light 'Em Up ... Light 'Em Up
Funded Dec 12, 2020I am just beyond thrilled and so thankful for your generous donation of my project, "Light 'Em Up." This project was created in hopes to give my students the experience of something other than paper and pencil activities or other boring manipulatives.
The light table is just that, a table that lights up. However, when you place the translucent manipulatives on it, whatever object it is, will transcend through. I cannot wait to see the look on my students' face when they begin using the table for math and language arts centers.
Thanks to donors like you, you made this dream a reality! I thank you so very much!”

Light Table Translucent Manipulatives
Funded Dec 12, 2020I am so thankful for your generous donation to my project, "Light Table Translucent Manipulatives." The manipulative center contains eight different types of translucent manipulatives and the light table math trays will organize the specific manipulatives.
Students will be able to engage in learning math content using letters, buttons, insects, dominos, gems, numbers, colored chips, and pattern blocks. This center will definitely keep my students engaged while learning specific content.
Thanks to donors like you, my students will now have no excuse not to learn math!
I appreciate you very much!”

It's BOOM Time!
Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you so very much for my Teachers Pay Teachers gift card so that I may provide a fun learning virtual experience to my first graders. With your generous donation, I was able to purchase many Boom Cards, which are interactive learning decks for children of all ages.
Since I introduced these cards, students have practiced beginning and ending vowel sounds, letter blends, and even math concepts, such as balancing equations.
The students love doing the cards and find it very engaging! Teaching virtually tends to get very monotonous at times, but assigning these decks, allows students a different atmosphere of learning.
Thank you so very much for all your support!”

Ready, Set, Craft!
Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you very much for supporting me and my first grade classroom! My project, Ready, Set, Craft! was created so that I may provide fun and exciting materials for different projects. The frames will be used during Easter or Mother's Day and the sequins will add a nice touch to the border. The colored squares will serve as sun catchers in the spring.
Students have so much ability to create special projects for themselves or for others, but when they do not have the means to create, all their potential falls by the wayside.
Donors like you make it possible for educators to still provide a fun learning environment while living in the extended virtual world! For that, I thank you dearly!”

Funded Dec 1, 2020I can't thank you enough for the generous donations for my project Diversity: One Color Does Not Fit All. My project was based on filling my classroom library with literature that represents diversity. I teach in a Title 1 school where the student population is African American and come from poverty. While I had a few books that represented the population, I did not have stories that students could relate to or talked about what diversity means.
During our Christmas celebration, I read the story A World of Cookies for Santa. Students enjoyed learning about the different ways of celebrating the holidays around the world. They were quite shocked that in Germany, children put their shoes outside for treats.
Students in first grade love to talk about themselves. The book, I Like Myself, Skin Like Mine, and I Am Who I Am are all wonderful stories that align with what children encounter as they explore their world. In my classroom, I try to teach that we are all unique individuals, and it would be quite boring if we all had the same skin color, came from the same type of family, or looked alike. I strongly encourage students to accurately portray their own skin color by choosing the appropriate crayon color. My project also included construction paper with various types of skin color. I cannot wait to use the paper to allow students to create projects based on their own unique selves.
Thanks to donors like you, my classroom is well on its way to have shelves of stories that represent the students I teach.”

Funded Nov 11, 2020Home for the Holidays project was a huge success – thanks to you! In a typical school year, my class and I would be celebrating the holidays together, in person. We would create ornaments, decorate cookies, write Christmas cards to families, and have our class holiday party. However, this is not a typical school year. I kept wondering what these special occasions will look like in a virtual world. Then, I realized, it doesn't have to be different. Which is why I requested help in providing my students the same experience they would have had if in the classroom. When I got notification that my project was funded, I was so ecstatic!
Once I received the merchandise, I knew these special holiday items would have an impact on my students, I just didn't realize how much. First graders are all about lights, movement, and action. I kept these things in mind as I chose the supplies for my project. After organizing the materials for each student, I put them in the stockings that I decorated with each of their names. Who doesn't love a Christmas stocking?
I placed the stockings in a gift bag and then stapled the bag shut and instructed parents that students will open their gift on the last day before winter break during class. When the day finally arrived, we had a typical morning as usual for the first hour and I kept hearing, "When are we decorating cookies? When can we open our bag?" We finished our must-do work and then I explained that these gifts were donated by a generous person who wanted to share in our celebration for the holidays. The students couldn't wait for me to give them the go-ahead to grab their stockings, so once I said, "It's stocking time!" they didn't waste one second.
I watched as they pulled item by item out of their bag and give each one a good look. I could just see their little minds thinking, "what should I play with first?" The light-bracelet was a huge hit and each student quickly put them on their wrists. One student immediately began using the craft stick to create the scratch-off ornament. He loved it and was very proud. Another student began decorating their holiday sticker elf. Then, some students put their holiday socks on and pranced around as if they were one of Santa's reindeer. From the scratch off ornament to the comfy holiday socks, there was not a frown in sight. The students were very thankful for their gifts; it just melted my heart seeing their faces light up.
I would love to do this same kind of project for Valentine's Day and I am hopeful that when the time nears, I will be able to provide the students with great items to show them how much they are loved.
Knowing that I could give them this moment of joy, albeit virtually, the end result was more than could be expected. Hearing the "Thank you!" "This is the best day ever!" "Wow!" "I love this!" was possible through the generous donations from people like you.
My class and I truly thank you for giving us holiday joy, when there is so much sorrow in our world today.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Inns
