  • Speech and Language Success

    Funded Feb 15, 2025

Thank you so much for the wonderful items that were provided with this project! The kids love playing jenga as a reward during the monthly Game Day or during speech and language activities when they are done taking their turn in a group activity. These games teach strategy, teamwork, how to lose gracefully and turn taking skills.

I also appreciate the new materials of the Main Idea you provided thru Lakeshore learning. Sometimes it is hard for me to find relevant, quick and easy materials to grab and go for therapy and it is nice to have new resources to practice key curriculum skills for the students!

    Much Appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rochester

  • Resources for Speech and Language

    Funded Feb 6, 2025

Thank you very much for helping to fund this project. We are already using all these resource in Speech and Language Therapy. The students love earning the fruit snack and jolly ranchers at the end of the session if they work hard and are respectful toward their peers.

I am also putting the expo markers to good use. Now I have the students write their answers or draw their answers on a white board so that I can hear from each student and take data on each student instead of getting a response from only one student. They love to choose their favorite color.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rochester

  • Speech and Language Materials

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donation to my Donors Choose project! With your support, the students walk in to therapy so excited to participate. They look forward to working hard knowing they will be rewarded with a small treat at the end!

I really like rewarding them with a small candy like the starburst, jolly rancher or small toy. They get several warnings to perform their best bacause if they do, they will earn a treat. Nothing is expected and given. Everything is earned.

We have also started writing thank you notes and hope you get them! It is nice to recognize others and realize giving back is important. I had each kid sign their name or write a note if able!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rochester

  • Back to School Rewards for Speech and Language

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation to this project! When I arrived back to school the students were so grateful to have new rewards to greet them. Each time a student comes to Speech and Language Therapy, works hard on their goals, and follows the rules, they are rewarded by being able to chose one small reward: a piece of candy, sticker, or toy. This reward is earned, not given. If they do not work hard and follow expectations, they do not earn this special treat.

Having these items provides the students a nice treat as they walk back to class and makes them feel special. I appreciate you spending your money to show them you care about them! I was so excited to unwrap these new toys and treats when they arrived at our school in August!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rochester

  • Speech and Language Is Fun

    Funded Dec 16, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to this project! The kids have loved receiving the benefits of this project!

The students have loved playing with the new board games of Pop the Pig and the Candyland. It has been so motivating to have these new board games and also see the improved social skills develop as the students figure out who will go first, how to take turns, how to learn to lose, how to win appropriately and how to work with others in a game like setting.

The students also have learned how to be grateful for what they receive at the end of the session. I offer each student one small treat at the end of the session. Some students want to take more and we work on how to make smart choices and be grateful for what we get!

Thank you so much for all you do to support students each day.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rochester

  • Speech Therapy Fun!

    Funded Feb 9, 2023

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. I have used all of the candy and snacks to offer to the students if they have done a job well done at the end of our session. They work so hard knowing they might get a treat at the end of our session.

Students also utilize the headphones to watch short videos or participate in online therapy programs, so that I can work with other students one on one or in small groups during our sessions.

Your generous donations make sure the students have what they need each and every day!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rochester

  • Speech Therapy Fun!

    Funded May 16, 2023

Thank you so much for the wonderful materials you have provided with this project! I am setting up my classroom now and can't wait to have these materials ready DAY ONE as the kids walk through the door!

I am going to have the binoculars ready for the kids to search for items with their sounds in it! Kids will love to play Guess who when they earn their monthly free time! They will enjoy all the sweet treats they will earn for working hard in therapy!

I really appreciate the felt tip markers and the stationary so that I can write notes home to parents and to students! I love building those relationships with students!”

  • Speech and Articulation Therapy Fun!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Than you so much for purchasing these resources for my students! I love using the things to have students grab items that start or end with their articulation sounds! It is a great motor and speech activity to get them moving and thinking about their speech sounds!

In this project, we also purchased some books that have /k, g, s/ sounds in them to help them generalize their speech with reading aloud. Kids love to practice their reading while working on their speech.

Lastly, since the big mouth/ tongue kit was no longer available, I used the left over money to buy some sweets/ candy for the kids to have a treat at the end of each session!”

  • Speech and Language Therapy FUN!

    Funded Oct 17, 2022

Thank you so much for fulfilling this project for my students! They love coming to therapy and being rewarded with a small treat at the end of the session for their hard work. A little piece of candy goes a long way as far as motivating them to work hard! I also love the new reading comprehension cards. Kids love the 'magic' pen they get to use for reading and answering comprehension questions. The pen will light up and make a fun sound when they get the correct answer to the question. This is very motivating for the students and allows them to work independently.”

  • FUN in Speech and Language

    Funded Mar 11, 2022

The resources that you have provided from funding this project have been so impactful! The reading comprehension cards are so wonderful to use with the students! They love that they can look at a picture before reading to make predictions and inferences. They also like that they can use a dry erase marker to make their answer selections and then erase the choices after their turn! The item is easy to access for me and easy to track data from!

I also really appreciate you re-stocking my treat jar that the students get to select from! If they work hard each session, they can pick one piece of candy at the end of the session for their hard work!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rochester

I am still teaching my special education speech and language students from home and I need some additional resources to shake up our routines. I need more evidence based resources. This gift card will help me purchase more resources (including boom cards and digital down loads) that will support me as I continue to teach virtually! I work with a wide variety of students who need resources for speech, language, grammar and visuals to help with social skills. The teachers pay teachers website has a variety of resources that I can use in therapy.
