  • Creativity Builds Self-Esteem!

    Funded Aug 9, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to my classes. The Kindergarteners and First Graders I teach have been using their new resources since receiving them in October. We've used watercolor to create Picasso inspired pieces, we have used paper plates to create pumpkin pie and bats, we've used oil pastels to create a look of texture in our polar bears. Our texture plates helped us to create artwork that you want to touch. The glitter and sequins decorated our trees. And of course, we've used crayons, gluesticks & colored paper in almost art activity.

The boxes of materials sat in the back of my art room. Each day the children would say, "Open them, Ms. Boxer! Let's see!" As I opened each box and unpacked the items, I could see the spark of excitement and happiness in their eyes! "New scissors?!" one student shouted. "Oh cool, big erasers" yelled another. "Look at all the cool kinds of paper!" they exclaimed. They were so excited. You could see that they felt as if someone must think they were so special to send them these items. It has motivated them to do their best; knowing at every turn there will be new materials to work with. The students are more attentive, interested and eager to create masterpieces with all the fabulous resources that have been donated to them. They feel proud. They feel important.

As the school year progresses, we look forward to using these materials in various projects. We will be studying artists such as Paul Klee, Keith Haring, Henri Matisse and more. We will create crafts for holidays. We will study ancient art and work on expanding our artistic minds. All these items that have been donates will enhance our creativity and make the end result that much more fantastic! Thank you doesn't begin to express my appreciation for all these donations. My students are so very lucky to have these resources and their smiles are proof that they are growing and learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Boxer

With these donations my students will have the basic supplies they need to begin their artistic journey. They will also be able to use materials that foster creative thinking and expand their imaginations. We will study famous artists and use their pieces to inspire our own creativity. My young students will cut, color, glue, draw, paint and make their own pieces to cherish forever. I plan to use rheae materials to teach the basic elements of art as well as create projects. I'm planning on making my students fall in love with what art represents. Remember, without ART, the Earth is just "eh."
